Email from Surfing Queensland

15 May 2020 by WindanSea Admin

Hi all surf schools and clubs,

I just wanted to get a quick email out to all of you over some confusion
that seems to be arising over the implementation of Stage 1 the State
Government’s new “Roadmap” to ‘Return to Play’.

As of 16th May, some restrictions are being reduced such as allowing
gatherings of up to 10 people.

It is extremely important to recognize that this doesn’t refer to
organized activities, lessons or events. The gatherings alluded to, are
in reference to small groups of families or friends.

Clubs and Surf Schools have not been cleared to recommence activities or
lessons. This will most likely not happen until Stage 3 after 10th July
2020.

The Queensland Government is currently working on a specific ‘sport’
return to play, that we have been advised should be ready for release by
late Friday, as previously advised.

Please do not take any bookings or arrange any activities for this
weekend, or you could expose yourself and our industry, to serious
repercussions, none the least of which would be no insurance coverage.

We will provide further updates as soon as they are received, hopefully
by Friday afternoon.

Kind regards

Alan Biggs
General Manager
